Further Study
Students who have completed advanced courses of study may enroll
in additional graduate courses to further hone their skills and/or
answer the highest calling to become Shamanic Clergy and be of
greatest service to their communities.

Students interested in graduate-level courses (ie, 500 level and above)
are required to apply separately for the courses. Students enrolled in
400-level courses are provided with more detailed information on the
application process.

500: Practicum in Healing and Pastoral Counseling
The practicum provides supervised experience in shamanic healing
sessions and pastoral counseling—either online or in-person. The
student serves as the practitioner, while the instructors provide
guidance, support, and constructive feedback. The practicum may be
repeated for up to 4 quarters to allow for continued growth and
refinement of skills.

501: Practicum in Teaching
The practicum provides supervised experience in shamanic teaching—
either online or in-person. The student teaches portions of classes,
learns about pedagogy and course design, interacts with students in
class forums, and creates or updates topics or lessons of existing
courses. The practicum may be repeated for up to 4 quarters to
support continued growth and development in teaching skills.

600: Seminary
Seminary represents a significant milestone in a shamanic
practitioner’s journey. This course covers all the essential information
that a practitioner must master prior to ordination. However, it is far
from the only requirement. To become a candidate for ordination and
register for this course, the aspirant must:
• Complete a short essay explaining how they see ordination is part
of their path of service
• Submit documentation of training they have received including
contact information for their teachers
• Provide two letters of reference from shamanic teachers or
practitioners
• Submit an anonymous log of shamanic healing sessions and
pastoral counseling carried out in the past 12 months
• Complete a criminal background check
• Participate in an interview—either in-person or online
In addition to the course fee, there is a nonrefundable application fee
of $400. It is understood that not all aspirants will be invited to take the
course and become a candidate for ordination.
Ordained individuals are licensed by Colorado Institute of Shamanic
Studies Inc as Shamanic Ministers in good standing. Licensure must be
renewed every two years, a process that includes a criminal background check and approximately 10 hours of continuing education.
